| Audio Recorders~ Some people prefer to use micro cassette recorders. I am not one of those people. Unfortunately, most people don't realize how much mechanical sounds are generated on cassettes and it can be very hard to clean up. More so than any digital recordings I have ever worked with. I use and prefer to only use RCA 128m Digital Recorder on high quality settings. I find this recorder to be the best on the market compared to the more popular brands. But it is a personal preference. Our group owns several of these recorders and we are very impressed with the results we have captured verses other recorders we have purchased in the past. |
| IR Cameras (Night Vision)~ You could buy the best night vision cameras on the market but they won't be worth anything without correct lighting! We use Sony Mini DV's and Mini DVD Handy Cams with Super Night Shot Plus. They work great indoors but if you are out doors, you need something stronger in the IR department. I recommend going on Ebay and buying yourselves IR flood lights. You can usually get 2 of these for the price of one Sony IR attachment. Granted, these IR flood lights are not wireless or battery operated. But you get 488 feet of light in 0 lux ( (complete darkness). It is one of our best investments yet and I highly recommend that you have at least 2 to start with. Often these guys who sell these items on Ebay will offer a buy one get one free sale. I believe we paid 160 total in cost including shipping. I highly recommend this product as you will be happy with it's quality and fast shipping. |
| Audio Editors~ I enjoy using Wavepad. This program has a free trial version located at your favorite freeware download sites. This program is great for minor clean up and for taking regions out and looping. I enjoy using this product hand in hand with Acoustica Premium. I use Acoustica by Acorn Digital Media software. It is available at their home site. Acoustica is a much easier program to use than Adobe. But it also has awesome features like slowing down to unbelievable levels than your typical editors. It also has a high frequency rebirth function which is a must have when dealing with white noise EVP's or if you have to adjust speeds often. It is a godsend and I highly recommend this program if you have an interest in cleaning EVP's. You won't be sorry! |
